Youth Exchange “Towers: history, culture and tradition for social inclusion”, ITALY, 23-30 April

Place: Bologna

Towers è uno scambio bilaterale finanziato dal Programma Youth in Action (azione 1.2) in cui 9 ragazzi italiani incontrano 9 ragazzi dell’Associazione turca Batman Project Coordination Unit.

L’obiettivo generale del progetto è fornire ai partecipanti conoscenze ed esperienze che possano favorirne l’inclusione sociale. In particolare, i ragazzi avranno la possibilità di conoscere un po’ di storia e cultura italiana, valori europei, contesto universitario bolognese, associazioni locali, cinema, cucina e un workshop di scrittura congiunta di un progetto.

Tutte le attività sono indirizzate ad incoraggiare lo scambio, la discussione e la trasmissione delle diversità dei partecipanti, anche attraverso processi di apprendimento non formale. Essi, infatti, condivideranno fra loro esperienze, culture, tradizioni, storia, valori e costumi.

Lo scambio si terrà a San Lazzaro di Savena dal 23 al 30 aprile e i partecipanti vivranno insieme per tutta la durata dello scambio.

YE “USE THE USED, ITS STILL USEFUL”, MACEDONIA, 5-14 May

Partıcıpant profile: 17-22 years old

Through our project named ‘USE THE USED, ITS STILL USEFUL’ young people from different countries will learn new creative ways of recycling, which will increase their sense of responsibility about protecting the environment and being economical at the same time.

By participating in different workshops they will have the chance to express creatively by using used things which are considered garbage, learn more about the pollution of the environment and share different experiences on this issue with other youngsters. One of the main aims, as well is to boost the young people to come up with new solutions for protection of their environment.

Target group are youngsters 17-22 years old plus group leaders which should be older than 22.

Each country will send 5 participants plus 1 youth leader.

TC “ISLAM IN EUROPE” , UK, 9-16 March

This training course addresses the place and role of Islam in contemporary Europe. Through a programme based on non-formal education methods, the TC will explore the place of religion, culture and identity in today’s Europe, foster reflection on the contemporary and historical factors that influence the portrayal of Islam in European societies and its place in public debate. This TC aims to equip youth workers with relevant tools and methods to address the issue in youth work as well as to influence their attitudes towards Islam and Muslims.

TC “Promoting intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding”, MACEDONIA, 22-27 August

Place: Ohrid, Macedonia

Main aim ‐ Raise the capacities of the youth NGO's from Europe to promote inter‐cultural dialogue and mutual understanding between young people. On this event participants will learn how to create quality projects that in wider sense will promote equality, and understanding between European youth.

Main activity of the project is a 5 day international seminar where 32 participants from 8 European countries will learn and share experience how to create and implement projects that in great sense will promote inter‐cultural youth work in multicultural environments.

Objectives: to promote inter‐cultural youth work as a tool that fosters inter‐cultural dialog; to educate 32 participants to create future projects that will promote inter‐cultural dialog and mutual understanding in their communities and on European level; to promote the concept of inter‐cultural learning and values in Europe; to promote CoE white paper on Inter‐cultural dialog and create follow‐up of the event.

Themes: inter‐religious and inter‐cultural dialog in youth work, concept of inter‐cultural dialog, multiculturalism, conflict management, mediation, human rights and anti‐discrimination.

TC “Leadership and strategy”, GREECE, 10-16 April

“Leadership and strategy” is a training course in the frame of leadership and strategy of youth organizations and associations linked to the Youth in Action Program, focused on practical issues. Youngsters and social workers from all over Europe will exchange idea and best practices about leadership and strategy for youth and volunteering organisations, will you be one of them?

TC “Pop Your Learning”, FRANCE, 4-8 July

Place: Marseilles, France

“Pop Your Leaning” is a seminar on cooperation to create new project with non formal education for young with fewer opportunities and to exchange as well on learning process and methodologies.

The program has been made for youth workers and trainers (not for youngsters directly) so please apply only if you got practical expereinces.

16 different countries are involved: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Sweden with 40 participants in total.

siamo in dirittura di arrivo. Oggi Venerdì 11 al BUCO: festa interculturale in pieno spirito Culturlab.

Vi aspettiamo alle 19,30 per l'aperitivo, durante il quale vedremo un video che raccoglie tutte le attività che abbiamo fatto insieme.

Alle 22 invece live music & jam session. Se siete suonatori provetti o avete amici che ne hanno voglia, potete salire sul palco insieme agli altri ed esibirvi nella vostra personale jam session. Portate gli strumenti, mi raccomando.

Ecoart: avvicinare i giovani all'ambiente attraverso l'arte

L'associazione You-Net cerca giovani italiani o che vivano in Italia, dai 18 ai 25 anni, interessati a partecipare gratuitamente al progetto europeo di scambio giovanile finanziato da Youth in Action "Ecoart", che avrà inizio il 2 dicembre a Bologna. Lo scambio, al quale partecipano anche ragazzi spagnoli, si pone l'obiettivo di avvicinare i giovani alle questioni legate all'ambiente attraverso alcune arti (la fotografia, il fumetto, il videomontaggio) per accrescere nei ragazzi la coscienza del loro ruolo di cittadini attivi in un mondo globalizzato e favorire il loro senso di solidarietà globale e di impegno nei confronti dei temi di attualità ambientale, stimolando il senso critico. Una conoscenza di base sarà fornita all'inizio dello scambio e saranno offerti tutti i mezzi per apprendere queste tecniche.

ECOART: WHEN NATURE BECOMES ART

Il progetto nasce dall’esigenza di avvicinare i giovani alle questioni legate all'ambiente, coscienti del fatto che una vera cittadinanza attiva passi anche attraverso la consapevolezza dell'importanza della salvaguardia del nostro pianeta, troppo spesso sfruttato e abusato. L'intento è quello di far vivere ai giovani che parteciperanno allo scambio un ritorno alla natura, riscoprendo il valore delle cose essenziali e l'importanza della condivisione delle esperienze legate a questo tema. Ciò avverrà attraverso l'arte, nello specifico: la fotografia, il fumetto, il videomontaggio. I giovani saranno infatti gli artefici dell'elaborazione di materiali artistici, tutti accumunati dallo stesso tema generale che è l'ambiente.

Queste idee di fondo si intrecciano con un altro intento del progetto, cioè quello di superare e vincere le barriere culturali che, in una società multietnica come la nostra, possono costituire un freno alla crescita sociale ed umana del giovane.

In linea con l'obiettivo europeo dell'anno riguardo la partecipazione attiva dei giovani nelle sfida globali, lo scambio mira ad accrescere nei ragazzi la coscienza del loro ruolo di cittadini attivi in un mondo globalizzato, nonché a favorire il loro senso di solidarietà globale e di impegno nei confronti dei temi di attualità ambientale.

La partecipazione allo scambio di giovani provenienti da contesti socio-culturali diversi e di migranti rom e sinti, potrebbe comportare una potenziale sfida per il processo di integrazione dovuta proprio alle incomprensioni culturali e/o linguistiche. La partecipazione stessa allo scambio costituisce una buona occasione di crescita personale, di apertura mentale e di avvicinamento all'altro. I giovani avranno l'opportunità di confrontarsi e mescolarsi con persone che hanno vissuto storie diverse, che provengono da situazioni di disagio sociale e/o personale che possono causare marginalizzazione.

Questo confronto aiuterà ad intraprendere un percorso interculturale e favorirà l’affinamento della consapevolezza di sé come soggetto portatore di identità, di diritti e di doveri, di appartenenza ad una comunità.

I partecipanti accresceranno la loro sensibilità verso le tematiche legate alla protezione dell'ambiente stimolando il senso critico anche di fronte alle differenze delle pratiche nei diversi paesi riguardo questo tema che rappresenta una delle sfide globali.

Lo scambio, infatti, mira a creare un senso di responsabilità e di consapevolezza ecologica e al contempo permette ai partecipanti di esplorare e conoscere forme d'arte come il fumetto, la fotografia e il video e, in base ai loro interessi, apprenderne il linguaggio e le metodologie. Saranno loro in prima persona, divisi in tre gruppi, a decidere come sfruttare questi tre mezzi di espressione artistica, pianificando attività a sfondo ambientale, sviluppando così nuove attitudini e interessi.

Ai partecipanti non è chiesto nessuna conoscenza pregressa riguardo alla fotografia, video o fumetto. Un'infarinatura generale verrà data all'inizio dello scambio e saranno loro offerti tutti i mezzi per apprendere queste tecniche.

Cultur Lab parte a Bologna!

The project Cultur Lab is a laboratory of intercultural exchange between Italian and foreign youngsters living in Bologna that will last from October 2010 to January 2011. It's an European Community project, all the activities will be in Bologna and are totally free!

It aims to let the partipants "meet" each other, living close, know their cultures, to learn, teach, share and grow up together. The partipants will “tell” about themselves and their cultures by sharing all together different aspects of their everyday life and by addressing together and talking about common concern. From culture to art, from cinematography to cooking, from music to volunteering, from climate change to European dimension up till individual life experiences. The participants will “walk” together for more than 4 months learning about the others and themselves through non-formal and informal educational activities such as workshops, cultural exhibitions, intercultural cooking, trainings, living library.

Telemedicina e Social Business: YouNet collabora con Yunus e con la Grameen Bank!

E’ con grande piacere che annunciamo di aver stabilito una proficua collaborazione con Muhammad Yunus e con la Grameen Bank, in particolar modo riguardo un grosso progetto medico-scientifico che vede come protagonista Livia Bellina e Grameen Kalyan (la parte medico-scientifica della Grameen Foundation) e più in generale nell’ampio settore del social business.

L’obbiettivo principale del progetto è la diffusione della medicina low-cost e della telemedicina, in principio nei distretti e nei villaggi del Bangladesh e in seguito in altri paesi del sud del mondo.

In un contesto più ampio guardiamo con molta positività ed energia e con più di un pizzico di orgoglio a questo importante traguardo. La prospettiva del social business per la quale Yunus è un punto di riferimento mondiale si sposa difatti alla perfezione con la filosofia for-social di YouNet. Per chi volesse approfondire il tema consiglio “Building Social Business” l’ultimo libro di Yunus in uscita in Italia il 15 settembre con il titolo “Si può fare!”.

- Collaborazione con Yunus e la Grameen bank in particolare su un progetto di medicina low cost e miglioramento delle condizioni sanitarie nei villaggi in Bangladesh. Se siete interessati a dare il vostro contributo a questo progetto, collaborando con la Grameen e magari anche a conoscendo Yunus contattateci. Possibile viaggio in Bangladesh ad Ottobre.

ADVIT Moldova is looking for the EVS volunteers for the following hosting projects starting December 2010/January 2011. All the project are situated in the capital of Moldova – Chisinau.

1. Animation Centre for Youth and Children that aims to offer everyone (children, young people and adults) in one of the Commune of Chisinau (capital of Moldova) and the opportunity to raise awareness of their own competencies and achieve personal development in a friendly centre with social, cultural, sporting and educational activities. The Centre is an innovative and reactive intervention resource for young people.
The centre runs the activities in the sectors:
- For children: in the activity centre and out-of-school club that are open all year.
- For young people: the pre-teenage clubs.
- Parents: informative workshop on the methods of the children’s education.
- Leisure for all: with different activities (dance, drama, gymnastics, sports etc.) offered to the whole population based on demand and needs. Other associations use the premises to offer activities (karate, fitness sessions, etc.).
The volunteer will work in the Centre as a person who co-organises the ideas which the young people and instructors realize during the workshops. The Volunteer will initially be in the place as the assistant, but gradually his/her contribution to the content of the workshops will grow.

2. New Life, an umbrella organization of the HIV/AIDs platform of the NGOs working with the HIV/AIDs prevention.
The selected volunteers will be involved in:
- Assisting with layout to prepare information material and presentations, attend planning and training meetings of our outreach workers , participate in the outreach activities and assist with presentations, as well as collecting data on services provided;
- Prevention work with youth, intravenous drug users. Concrete tasks in this work area are: communicating with members of these groups , assistance in designing methods of work, participation in outreach activities, as well as collecting data on services provided;
- Assistance in designing the social program for people living with HIV/AIDS and providing psychosocial support and help. Concrete tasks in this work area are : organizing excursions and cultural events (cinema, theatre etc.), assisting in writing articles for the web-sites, assisting in designing and delivering training programmes, assisting in organizing meetings of self- support;
- Participation in our HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and substance abuse peer education program Concrete tasks in this work are: meeting with volunteers who do peer education program, contacting and meeting school authorities where education is to be conducted, designing the program of lectures/workshops, delivering lectures/workshops, evaluating lectures/workshops. Volunteer will undergo any relevant training in relation to these issues;
- Assistance to our staff in conducting campaigns. Concrete tasks in this work are: assisting in designing promotional material for campaigns we organize, esp. 1st December campaign, as well as specific info material for certain vulnerable populations (such as Roma, etc), distributing info material with other volunteers;
- Active membership in our youth club, where they will give their specific input and open new opportunities for learning (for both himself/herself and our volunteers). Concrete tasks in this work are: preparing programs for meetings, delivering workshops, designing and implementing other activities for youth. These activities and tasks and its scope can of course be rearranged in accordance with volunteers' personal preferences.
High level of flexibility and motivation to learn Russian/Romanian is required.

3. Centre for Assistance and Protection (CAP) is the first contact point in Moldova for the persons returning home after a dreadful trafficking experience abroad and also for the victims of domestic violence. The Center, which has been operational since 2001, provides crisis interventions in a safe and friendly environment; during the stay at the shelter, residents can benefit from a range of "in-house" services. Centre is coordinated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

• Temporary Residence
• Psychological Counselling
• Social Support Medical Assistance
• Legal Support
• Recreational Activities
Volunteer will be involved in:
- social activities with beneficiaries of the CAP : manual work, sport activities, writing workshops, ice-breakers ( for community life), life skills activities ( managing a budget, developing self-confidence, self-knowledge, discussing about values, human rights, communication abilities….), sensitization about AIDS, familial planning
- Accompanying beneficiaries to different places (for juridical procedures, vocational school, shopping….)
- Office support for staff ;
- Implementation of new services in the shelter (library, partnership with sport hall)
- Cultural excursions (theatre, museum, cinema, events in Chisinau…)
- Helping with the surveys (+ analysis of the results.) f.e. evaluation of the quality of the services
- Preparing events for the local volunteers;

4. The representation of the Austrian Public Association “Hilfswerk Austria” in the Republic of Moldova is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization, which contributes to the improvement of life quality by providing sustainable support for the economic development and social protection in a non-bureaucratic, professional and directly onsite manner for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged from social point of view people in the Republic of Moldova.
The volunteer will have the opportunity to get involved in the various aspects of Hilfswerk Austria in Moldova activities:
• Taking part in project visits as well as in conferences and meetings:
• Developing her own idea or initiative and managing a clear-cut project in line with her skills, personal interests and goals: the volunteer will set up her/his own weblog which will accompany the civic education projects In this weblog, which will mainly be written in English, the volunteer is free to express her own experiences and point of view of the project and its implementation, as well as further experiences and impressions gained concerning both the activities and her/his work at Hilfswerk Austria in Moldova and her/his stay in Moldova in general. Through this weblog, the volunteer will give an important asset to the project and help reaching a broader public and therefore optimizing the outcome.
• Conducting internet researches about similar civic education projects and election practises in other countries.
• Helping in the preparation of project-related conferences and seminars.
• On-site project visits: Updating HWA’s and the summer school’s website and writing reports on projects where she was involved or which she visited.
• Supporting the HWA with English and German language skills (translations, writing applications, proof-reading etc.)
Priorities will be given to candidates with relevant practical or university background.

5. Young Artists Association Obrliht
Oberliht Association aims to mobilize the young artists in order to improve their professional skills, to grant the support so that they could assert themselves in the local and international contemporary art ambience.
The volunteer will be:
- helping to run the CHIOSC project :(http://www.oberliht.org.md/chiosc.html) ,
- help running the ARThotel, a gallery space in Chisinau coordinated by Oberliht Association (schedule to be established in relation to each exhibition/event);
- assisting the artists/curators in residency in Chisinau (helping them to realize their artistic projects) as part of artist in residency program;
- preparation and implementation of public events, technical assistance (meetings, film screenings, presentations etc.) in CHIOSC and ARThotel, coordination of different activities and events;
- public relations (distribution of posters, promotional materials);
- graphic design: creation of posters / flyers;

6. The Rehabilitation Center of Torture Victims “Memoria”
Objectives:
• Providing medico-social and legal support to torture victims and their families;
• Improving the health status and quality of life of assisted persons, their social reintegration with re-establishing of their integrity, reputation and self-respect.
• Prevention of torture and safeguarding the rights of victims to medical services and compensation.
• Improving the staff knowledge about torture victims and creating a model of rehabilitation services for special categories of persons.
• Collaboration with other similar centers and persons involved in the rehabilitation of torture survivors.
Description of the tasks of the volunteer:
The volunteers will have the opportunity to get involved in various aspects of Memoria’s activities, such as:
- Trying to raise awareness of the organization by writing applications for possible funding opportunities.
- The volunteer will also manage there own personal project, such as arranging seminars, study visits and conferences, which focus on fighting of torture and developing democracy in Moldova and greater awareness of human rights issues.
- The volunteer will also follow European policy developments in the Moldovan youth sector and preparing European projects
- The volunteer will assist with research projects. In particular, they will help Memoria in finding partners and creating new projects in Europe and the rest of the world.
- The volunteer will manage a clear-cut project in line with their skills, personal interests and goals; This will also be an opportunity for them to develop their own ideas or initiative.

7. Dogs’ Shelter “Casa Katharina” is a shelter for around 120 dogs who are all waiting since a lesser or longer time for friendly people and a new home.
Volunteer will help to:
- Clean and take care of the places where the animals stay.
- Play with animals.
- Create the places where the animals stay (putting the attributes on the right places) and make this places ready for the animals.
- Do fortification and does behavior observation on the animals.
- Feed the animals.
- Help veterinary doctor.
- Register animals and prepare reports this

All selected volunteer will have the following practical arrangements during their service:
Accommodation: in room with shared kitchen, bathroom and toilet in the rented flat together with other EVS volunteers from different countries or single room with shared kitchen, bathroom and toilet in the host family.
Food: Food allowance will be received from ADVIT Moldova.
Local transport: Monthly transportation card will be provided.
Language courses: Intensive course upon arrival plus 30 hours of the language lessons with the private teacher is provided. Volunteers can choose what language to learn Romanian or Russian.
On-arrival training and midterm evaluation:
On-going mentoring and support
Through constant communication with Moldovan children and the staff, playing national games, signing songs, telling tales and etc., the volunteer will receive a unique opportunity to get to know Moldovan culture and probably to discover something new in his/her own culture by looking at it from another dimension.
